Duct Tape Moments Defined

These are the moments, the everyday moments, when we decide to move toward a goal of encouraging independence, resiliency, experience, problem solving for our children- without our interference. When these moments happen, they are “Duct Tape Moments” (imagine Vicki Hoefle with Duct Tape over her own mouth as she wants to chime in and direct, remind, correct- control the brood!).

As a parent, if you’ve ever thought, Wait. My interference, nagging, lecturing, saving, etc. will not help the situation. Instead, I’ll just keep quiet, hold off my emotions, stay out of it and let the kids work through this, then you have had a Duct Tape Moment!
